And that's how you prevent it from getting hard
Do you sometimes have it that your bag of brown sugar becomes so hard that you can no longer use it? You are certainly not alone.
In the trash with it? No, there are easy tricks to make your brown sugar soft again. Feel free to try them out!
1. Damp kitchen paper
If you want to soften hardened brown sugar in 1-2-3, the trick is for you. All you need is a microwave oven, a bowl, and a paper towel! How to proceed:
Place the hardened brown sugar in a microwave-safe bowl.
Dampen a piece of kitchen paper (squeeze it well, as it should not be too wet) and place it on top of the sugar.
Place the bowl in the microwave and let it run for about 20 seconds.
Is the sugar not yet soft enough? Repeat the steps and loosen the sugar in the meantime with a fork.
2. Moist ingredient
Do you check the ingredients you need a few days in advance, but do you notice that your brown sugar has turned rock hard? Don't worry: by storing a moist ingredient, your sugar will be soft again within two days. Choose a piece of bread, a piece of orange peel, or a few marshmallows: they make the sugar moist again and easily crumble. Put the sugar in a sealed plastic bag or airtight box and put it there.
3. The right storage box
Of course, prevention is better than cure. Therefore, immediately store your brown sugar in the right box. You can't miss with an airtight one: the less air that can reach the sugar, the less chance it will harden!
Once your brown sugar is soft again, nothing will stop you from testing heavenly recipes with it.
